Title: "New Ideas for an Old Problem: The Story of Steinberg’s Conjecture and What Mathematicians Do"
Brief Description: Have you ever wondered what, exactly, a pure mathematician does? Do they compute with really big numbers? Do calculus? In this talk, we will discuss what mathematicians do, and how they do it, set against the background of a forty year old problem whose story extends back centuries, and whose future is likely to be as vibrant as its past.
